Khalid Lazar (MOR) and Naomi Dongelmans (NL) founded Salsa Brisa, recognized with Bedrijven Awards for excellence in business in 2012 and 2013, and best entrepreneur top 100 of the Netherlands in 2015. They have a dedicated dance school called La Mulata in Maastricht, and since 2006, the two have enjoyed great success and a growing popularity in the Netherlands teaching Latin American, African and Brazilian dance techniques. Together, they are responsible for founding the world-famous Limburg Salsa Bachata Kizomba Festival and Sardinia Sensual Festival. With her background as a medical doctor, Naomi realized that her passion for dance had the capacity to help people cope with many afflictions including depression, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes.
Salsa Brisa to help others find happiness and better health through dance. Working with her partner and cook Khalid, she has been able to prove that through dance, people battling depression become happier through endorphin-producing movement, and older people enjoy better mobility and feel significantly younger through exercise and dance. Salsa Brisa’s ultimate goal is providing quality lessons combined with having fun. They now bring a great experience to you in Zuyd.
