How do borders affect human behaviour?

Bianca Szytniewski teaches human geography at Utrecht University and works as a PhD researcher on cross-border mobility in European borderlands at Utrecht University and the Radboud University Nijmegen. She holds a MA in International relations and European Union studies. Her research interests include shopping tourism, border networks and practices, cross-border mobility, encounters with differences and everyday life experiences.

How do borders affect human behaviour?
Do you like to shop in another country? Would you consider renting a room in a place in Belgium or Germany? Do borders influence human interaction? Should municipalities, companies, housing corporations make policies to eliminate border effects ? Bianca Szytniewski did research in three different border areas. In this workshop, she will invite you to think about the effect of borders on our daily lives.
